91% alcohol and listerine kills them on contact
Hello, Nlauary, and welcome to our forum.
While alcohol can kill bed bugs on contact, it isn’t very reliable at doing so. Various testing has shown that about 50 to 70% of bed bugs sprayed with alcohol will be killed; one study showed a kill rate as low as 20%. Meanwhile, there are contact sprays available that have a near 100% kill rate.
Since alcohol only kills on contact, you’ll also need to consider residual killing methods, unless you want to patrol your home with an alcohol bottle for the rest of your life.
I can’t find any studies or evidence that Listerine is effective against bed bugs. If you have a study available, I would really appreciate a link. If not, I would strongly recommend sticking to treatment methods that have been proven effective by professional use.
